Collusion of players often takes place when there is conspiracy between two players who play in a manner unfair to their opponents. It is essentially referred to as a team play that a couple of players are helping each other to make the game favorable to either of them.

Another issue is chip dumping where the player is able to purposely lose a chip to the other player they prefer. This is however a form of cheating that is difficult to prove. Another form of cheating involves the poker chips where other players are bringing their own chips or attempt to steal the chips from where they are kept.

Using a high quality but often expensive poker chips will make it difficult for other players to bring their own. Also extra care should be observed when keeping the extra chips to ensure no other players can get hold of it before, during and after the tournament.

Card cheating is another arguable issue in a home poker tournament where looking at other player's cards is illegal while other argue that it is not and the responsibility lies on the player to hide their own cards.

It is important to set some house rules prior to the beginning of any home poker game in order to avoid confusion among players later on. Proper orientation to each player will help them play accordingly to the house rules set on the home poker tournament.

The host should be able to establish well defined rules to be known to all players and ensure that the home poker game they are hosting is fair and to protect all players from any form of cheating. Essentially, the players should also be expected to observe certain house rules concerning the right etiquette on the proper way to conduct themselves while playing the tournament.

Basic rules on smoking may apply, avoiding cursing and insulting words to other players, prohibition of drug use, conversation on the cell phone while playing the game, splashing the pot, to act out of turn and many other possible rules that can bring order to the home poker tournament.
