The most common cheat protection measure is the method of a burn card. This employs taking out the top card prior to exposing any community card in Texas Hold'em and keeping it aside face down. A measure against player collusion is to seat players randomly. This will prevent poker players communicate easily and to pass on favorable cards to make one win the game. Keeping fresh deck of cards available to replace cards with mark on it may be necessary in order to prevent other players identify the value of the marked cards which they can use to their advantage or to the disadvantage of their opponents.

Oftentimes it is always important to keep the eyes open to spot signs of cheating. The famous term of mechanic's grip must be observe from the dealer and to asses whether the dealer is oddly gripping the poker cards and covering the deck more than normal. It may be worth calling the attention of the dealer to let them know that you are watching closely.

One sign to look for whether collusion is taking place on a poker table is to watch for the betting styles of players involving bets and raises back and forth that will keep the third player on a tight game of expensive bets.

Being able to spot any cheating early on in the game and to prevent its occurrence is an important factor that the host of home poker tournament should ensure in all of the home poker events that they will be organizing.
