The Game Formats of Home Poker Games
Along with the growing global popularity of poker tournaments comes the trend of playing home poker games. Poker tournaments can now be played at homes. It has become one of the major social events that many gamblers welcome. It gives them a new ambience of playing their favorite game of poker with a socialization factor.
Home poker games are usually offered on two most common games formats namely the ring game and tournament game. With the ring game format, the poker players are informed in advance on the stakes involved on the poker tournament but each player is entitled to bring as much money as they want for the buy in.
With the ring game poker format, the poker players can place a bet as much as they can without limits. Furthermore, the players can leave the game anytime they want as there is no restriction as to when players are allowed to leave the game. The poker game ends when there will be no more players left willing to play poker.
With tournament poker format, the game is structured differently in such as way that the buy in is determined on a fixed rate. Poker players playing this type of home poker game will only need to play the set amount for buy-in. If the buy-in involved for instance is $50 then $50 is all that a player needs to play on the poker tournament.
The poker player is not allowed to leave anytime they want. There are only three grounds by which a poker player can leave the game and that is if they are eliminated from the game, they win or they forfeit their seat.
Each player will get a chip equivalent to the buy in amount which is generally the same number of chips to all poker players on the tournament. The player is eliminated from the game when they run out of chips. As the tournament goes on the numbers of players decrease down to only two players left who will split all the chips on the pot and will play against each other. The player who holds most number of chips wins the game.
The ring game format is preferable to some player as it gives them flexibility to bet and with more freedom to leave the game anytime they want. This gives them better chance of taking home more profits by leaving the game anytime to save their winnings.
With the home poker tournament format however, there will only be a single player who will go home a winner. Many hosts of home poker games offering home poker tournament usually customize the determination of winners of the tournament by allowing top winners from third to first placers.
The prizes are taken from a certain percentage of the total pot at stake for the three winners. It is also suggested to offer side games for eliminated players in order to keep them entertained while the poker tournament is still going on.
Playing the ring game format will give poker players the flexibility of playing poker while the tournament home poker game can give poker players the chance to limit their poker gambling within the fixed amount of buy-in thus they can control how much their losses will be.
